About Me

My Introduction!

My name is Duy, pronounced like “do we.” I was born in Vietnam on October 16, 2007, and later moved to the U.S. when I was four!

I developed an interest in LEGO when I was young and that evolved into building computers and, later, programming. I gained a strong interest in programming because I like that it encourages creativity, many of my hobbies reflect on that ideology. Being able to build whatever I want with technology piqued my interest in early high school.

Outside of coding, I also enjoy playing games with my friends, some notable mentions being Fortnite, Minecraft, and Roblox. I love fashion, having spent thousands of dollars on clothes over the years, and also can't live without music despite being deaf on my right! When I'm not socializing? AirPods are in. My latest hobby is learning, modifying and working on cars. A little fun fact is that my first car was a 2014 Scion FR-S, and it was a manual!

My Projects

Apple-Style Calculator (Java)

My first coding project! It's a Java Swing calculator app inspired by Apple's calculator, with a modern UI, custom styling, and button-based input handling.

Programming & Problem Solving

  • I am actively learning while building projects for my own interest and to solve real-world problems, ever increasing my programming knowledge.

  • I apply core computer science concepts such as algorithms and data structures in coursework and projects.

  • I am constantly learning new programming skills and am always on the lookout to participate in CS related activities and jobs.

  • I view AI as a tool that can be used to aid in learning, never as a crutch in place for actual programming knowledge and skills.

  • My genuine passion for programming and technology as a whole has led me to develop a strong interest and enjoy learning/working in CS.

Technical Support & Skillsets

  • I help peers with their computer issues and have been dealing with hardware/software since I was a kid.

  • I am able to understand how hardware components work and interact with software.

  • I have built several computers for peers and have assisted with upgrading, repairing, and/or diagnosing hardware parts.

  • I provide hands-on support for a wide range of computer hardware and software problems, being able to simplify complex issues in comprehensible terms.

  • I use my knowledge of computers to teach STEM and have volunteered/mentored in summer camps and clubs in STEM related fields.

Graphic Design & Influence

  • I create and graphics for various projects, including logos, banners, social media posts, and more in my high school clubs.

  • I use design tools such as Canva while communicating with my peers so tasks are performed effectively.

  • I used my knowledge of graphic design to create an engineering portfolio for my robotics club.

  • My work has seen success in various ways, such as my club's most successful year of member recruitment and my engineering portfolio winning "THINK" award in competition.

AI & Machine Learning Applications

  • I view machine learning as a tool for solving practical problems and continue to deepen my understanding of the field.

  • Since I am still new to the field, I focus on developing a strong understanding of how and why models work rather than simple learning how to use them.

  • I apply machine learning techniques using Python libraries such as pandas and scikit-learn to analyze data and make predictive models.

  • I understand the full ML workflow, including data preprocessing, feature selection, train-test split, model training, and evaluation.

Future Skills Section

  • I am ever learning new CS related skills and will add more skills in the near future...
